Native Shrubs

Tubelings

American Native Plants stocks a wide selection of trees and shrubs grown as tubelings. Our woody seeds are planted and grown in Anderson Band Pots that measure 2.5” x 2.5” x 5” deep. Tubelings are sold individually or in flats of 36. Depending on the conditions at the planting site, tree and shrub tubelings can have a significantly higher survivability rate than bareroot plants thanks to their young and healthy root systems fully encased in the media that surrounded then since germination from seed. Tubelings are also very easy to transport and plant.

Containers #1, #2, #3, and #5

We grow native shrubs in containers for your transport and planting convenience. Shrubs grown in containers have well-developed root systems and plenty of surrounding soil, so you won’t need to wait for them to start growing. As a rule of thumb, the bigger the container number, the larger the size of the bush. We offer native shrubs in containers #1, #2, #3, and #5.

  • #1: 1-gallon pots that typically hold 3 quarts of soil, 6 1/2” diameter, 7” tall
  • #2: 2-gallon pots, 8 ¾” diameter, 8 ½” tall
  • #3: 3-gallon pots, 11” diameter, 9 5/8” tall
  • #5: 5-gallon pots, 10 ¾” diameter, 11” tall

The final volume and height of your container and native shrub is determined seasonally and by species.
