Container-Grown Native Shrubs
Container-grown shrubs arrive as established plants, with the root system and surrounding media kept intact until they go in the ground. Shrubs come in four container sizes: #1, #2, #3, and #5. Generally, the bigger the container number, the larger the size of the bush.
Shrubs Grown as Tubelings
We also grow native shrubs as tubelings, seedlings sold in full flats of 36 or 32, depending on the format. Their compact size suits high-quantity planting.
Region & Zone
Native Shrubs for Your Region and Growing Zone
Native shrubs perform best when their needs match the conditions at the planting site. Along with hardiness, consider sunlight, soil moisture, drainage, and exposure. A shrub suited to moist soil may struggle on a dry slope, while one that performs well in full sun may not establish as successfully in a shaded planting.
Many of the shrubs we grow suit USDA Hardiness Zones 5–7, but hardiness and site requirements vary by species. If you have questions about the right shrubs for your project conditions, our team can help.
